What altitude do you
jump from?
Typically you jump from 12,500 feet AGL
(Above Ground Level), sometimes a little higher depending
on the altitude of the drop zone, type of aircraft and type
of jump.
Large freefall formations of around 100
or more skydivers require more time to build, thus such jumps
start at higher altitudes and often require that jumpers breathe
bottled oxygen during the climb to the higher altitudes (around
18,000 feet is typical). |

At what altitude do
skydivers open their parachutes?
The United States Parachute Association
(USPA) sets minimum opening
altitude at 2,000 feet AGL for experienced skydivers and 2,500
feet for slightly less experienced skydivers. Some training
jumps including Tandem jumps open at 5,500. |

How much does it cost
to skydive?
Experienced jumpers who own their own
gear pay anywhere from around $17 to $18 per 12,500 ft jump.
A tandem jump costs $199 Mon to Thur
& $250 and a first jump course & jump can cost anywhere
from $199 to $209. To fully train
to become a licensed skydiver usually costs around $2,000
dollars. |
